Legal Aid
All of our solicitors are registered with the Scottish Legal Aid Board to provide criminal legal assistance. Our initial consultation with new clients is always free. If you think you might be eligible for Legal Aid, please mention this when you initially get in touch and we will advise the information you will be required to provide at the first meeting.
Criminal Legal Aid is primarily means tested.
Generally, to be financially eligible for Legal Aid, you are required to have disposable income and disposable capital below certain amounts, these figures are reviewed annually. For more information, visit the Scottish Legal Aid Board website.
At Gilfedder & McInnes, we pride ourselves on being clear and upfront. We only charge privately in cases where the Legal Aid route is not available or has already been exhausted.
Our fees are competitive, set on a case by case basis and will be agreed with clients prior to any chargeable work being undertaken.
